Mission Mombasa

Hey!!
I thought, since I devoted a whole blog post to Imani, I need to do the same for my trip! I do not want to take away from the importance of this trip!
I am gearing up and finalizing items to go on a silent auction right now, super excited! One of my favorite things on there is a cake made by Stephanie Bowling from Cake Junkie! She is awesome! If you have seen the cake Reagan had at her bday party a few years back (the purple and pink one with butterflies, two layers), you can see just how talented she is! And that was a couple of years ago! And they don't just look good, they taste AMAZING!! She made our wedding cakes too, and I heard about how good the cakes were for a while!
If you have anything you would like to donate to the auction, please email me to let me know! Or if you have junk lying around I WILL be having a garage sale May 7th (I have announced so now I must do it! lol!), and I will be taking donations for stuff to sell, all proceeds go to the trip!
I am so close, as you can see from my counter!

Another fund raiser we are doing is a Profit Share with Froyoyo! Wednesday May 4th from 8-10pm, if you go to enjoy a delicious frozen yogurt and mention Mission Mombasa, they will donate 25% of the sales to the team! So please go enjoy some Froyo May 4th!!!

I know I said that I wasn't going to begin taking donations for the Ministry bag till later, but I was thinking about this, and I don't want anyone to think they can't donate now!
Some things some of my friends are doing are picking up a bottle of tylenol or motrin every time they go to the store, or I would suggest if you are at Target, pick up a soccer ball, hobby lobby, pick up an extra craft or two while getting your own kiddos one, these little things can add up quickly and won't seem like such a huge deal if you buy them gradually! Also please know, if you can't store things to let me know! I will come get them from you!! I am so excited to be able to provide supplies to these missionaries and the children they are supporting!
Thank you again for all of the support you have given me!! Please continue to pray for me, the team, the missionaries, and the Kenyan people!

Imani

Hey guys!! So many many great things are going on!
This post is going to be all about Imani, and the many blessings that are coming because of it.
As you know, we are officially a Corporation of Texas, we have set up our bank accounts as well.
Well now we have set up our Facebook page, twitter, and our website is up and running. The website is still under construction but it is up and you can look at it! We have also posted the beads onto our Facebook page so that we can go ahead and start raising money. We have already raised over $200 just since Friday! Crazy!
We will be filing our 501c3 on May 6th, and then begin the hard work of finding partners.
A partner is going to be someone that wants to donate money on a monthly basis, if you or anyone you know of are interested in becoming partners with Imani please email me!
The Segners are gearing up to move in 8 months! We are looking into everything from plane tickets to homeschooling materials for the boys! It is amazing all of the little things you don't think about! But what a blessing to be apart of their ministry and to see the Lord working through them! Keep them in your prayers, this is a big move with a large family and Satan is quick to attack!
REAL 4 Christ ministries is getting ready for us in July right now! I am soo excited to finally meet Chris and Lisa Moore face to face! I cannot wait to meet the children at their school and really make friendships that will last.

Imani has some big stuff happening, one, we will have a booth at the "Can you beat the heat" 5K on Sunday May 1st! I will have the beads out there and materials for people to take home!
Two, and even bigger, we have gotten Wolf Pen Ampitheater for August 26th! We are going to have an event similar to Island Party that BUCS puts on every year! We are already working with some pretty awesome people to get together bands and sound system! The Chris and Lisa from REAL 4 Christ will actually be in the states on furlow and are coming to speak at it! As well as Jason and Kari Segner and then Jenny, Kaylene and I. We are soo excited about this event!!

So now that you know this awesome news! Go find us on FB Imani Tumaini Upendo, or twitter @imaniministries, or look at our website www.imani-africa.com. Donation tab is already set up if you feel led to donate, or check out the beads on Facebook and see if you might be interested in some!
Thank you for all your support, whether it be financial or in prayer!!

Blessings!!

Rachel

It's all happening! LOL!

The title is a joke, I keep saying that every time something good happens with Imani, and every time I say it I think of the movie Almost Famous, totally not the same, but its funny none the less! (to me anyway!)

So much has been going on! Imani has started up lighting fast! When its the Lord's timing, it is HIS timing!! I mean we are a corporation, we can take donations as a non profit and we are planning our first BIG event!! Crazy!
So our biggest challenge right now is to get that 501c3 filed. We are able to go ahead and take donations as a non profit because it is retroactive from the date of formation of the corporation, which means as of April 8th we can take donations. We have to file for our 501c3 within 27months, of course we want to do it within the next 2 weeks! Once that is filed and comes back, the flood gates will open!! There are so many things we will be able to do! I am so excited to be able to be apart of this, so blessed by the Lord.
So, your wondering, whats stopping us from filing, well it is the $850 it takes, we just don't have that, we had to spend some to set up our corporation etc. So now we have a goal. We need to raise $600 within the next 2 weeks. That is our fervent prayer, and we know will come to pass. We can see the Lord's blessing and leading thru this. One way we will be doing this, is the selling of the Ugandan beads. The ones Kari gave us.
At our last meeting we expressed concern for this issue and her and Jason both told us to use those beads to raise the money needed! What a blessing they are! So excited the Lord has chosen to use them for His good!
Soo, tonight I am going to be taking a picture of each and every one of those necklaces/bracelets! I will be posting them on Facebook and you will be able to choose the specific one you want! I thought about just posting a few pics and saying you get what you get, but each one is so beautiful and unique that it deserves to be hand chosen and admired, as we are by Christ!
We even have some bracelets that are child size!! My girls adore them!! Perfect Easter gifts, and don't forget Mother's day is coming up!!
Oh and we will also have a booth at the Run 4 Change 5k coming up May 1st and our logo will be on the back of their t-shirts!! Soo excited about that!
If you don't know what that is, go to my FB page and sign up to run!!! It's for a great cause!!

I don't want to forget about my trip, it is soo important! I know the Lord has huge blessings in store for myself, the team and the Kenyan people! If you haven't gotten a chance to look at the supply list, please do! Obviously I want to wait a little longer before I start collecting, but if you need to get rid of stuff now and can't wait, bring it!! I will most certainly hold on to it for you!
Continued prayers please, for the trip and Imani!
Love you all!

Good things!!

Good grief! These last two weeks have just been a whirlwind!! I told you all that myself and my friend Jenny are starting a non profit. Well, it is now Jenny, a girl named Kaylene (super cool story about her, LOVE her!!), and I!
As of Friday April 8th we are officially a state registered Corporation! Our company name is legally Imani Tumaini Upendo, which means Faith Hope Love in Swahili. But you will hear me call it simply Imani:)

We have our domain name for our website, so in a couple of weeks you will be able to check it out! We now have our own emails (rachel@imani-africa.com), and PRAISE GOD! We have a checking and savings account set up!!! WOOOO HOOO!!! It is AMAZING! 2 weeks ago this was just a thought, and the Lord has just abundantly blessed it!!
The Scripture Col 2:2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ
this scripture explains our mission better than we could!!
Jenny and I have been meeting every Monday and Wednesday in the mornings before work to study the Word and pray together. We began with Colossians. The Lord gave us this scripture, and we are so thankful for Him!
In the coming months we will be looking for sponsors, not just sales, we will need monthly donors, as well as just random ones. We have so many plans for this ministry! I cannot wait to get started!
Please be in prayer over us filing our 501(c)3. We have decided to tackle it by ourselves! We will be filing within the next two weeks. We have a little more money we have to raise in order to do it, the total cost is $400, and we have half of that right now.
We have been spending our own money as well as had a couple of donations already. We aren't worried tho! The Lord will provide, His hand is obviously in this!

Not to take away focus of the mission trip I am going on, because I am still raising funds for that as well, which is going wonderfully! The Lord is blessing me so much! This trip is important for Imani as well. We will be gathering things while we are there for our Online Boutique.
The Lord has also put in place different people who are going to Ethiopia and Uganda this summer and are willing to bring items back for us!! God is so good!

Thank you all for praying for myself, the team, and my family! Please continue to do so! Please add Imani to your prayers as well, prayer is soo powerful! We want to cover Imani in prayer, as well as the ministries Imani will help, the Segner family (if you would like to meet them go to thesegners.blogspot.com), REAL 4 Christ ministries, and the people they will touch and help!
