Reagan's Passport...

I cannot believe we are nearing the end of January!!  So many firsts are happening, but the two big ones...I get to take Reagan to Uganda, and I get to work for Healing Faith!!!!!

We are beginning to really prepare for this journey.  We pray together often, asking for the Lord to keep our eyes and ears open for His leading and preparation.  I have been coaching her to Boldly pray for things regarding this trip...I love hearing her pray.

As it gets closer there will be milestones on this journey together.  The first one:Getting her Passport!!!

She got to leave school, take the short drive to the College Station Post office, and apply for her first passport ever!

I cannot tell you the immense joy I am receiving by sharing these experiences with her.  Her sweet servants heart.  I am a blessed mommy for sure!

Here are some pictures of our trip to get her passport!

Reagan has also drafted her own support letter that I am going to share with you.  A support letter is so important for so many reasons.  One, is of course the obvious...fundraising.  However, these letters mean so much more!!
Some of you have been supporting me financially and/or thru prayers since I went on my first mission trip (thank you!!), and I want to continue to keep you updated on what the Lord has allowed you and I to partner in doing!  You saw that right!  You AND I!!
As a prayer warrior and/or a financial supporter, you are a HUGE partner in what happens!! The Lord does not want one person to gain the glory from anything done in His name.  He makes sure there are multiple players!  This way I can NEVER boast to say "look what I did!" NO NO!  It is always, look what the LORD did thru us!
These letters are important for those going on mission trips, to not rely on themselves, but the Lord for His provision, and to allow others to be a part in these glorious journeys!
I was thrilled to be able to lend a little knowledge to Reagan that I have been blessed with thru my journey in this way.  Teaching her to write a support letter, from her heart, in her words...

Reagan hard at work, writing her support letter!!

Dear family and friends,

Recently my mom and dad have agreed to let me go to Uganda Africa. I think that this will give me more wisdom for later on however, this will also give me a chance to say that it’s not all about me. While we are in Uganda we will be working with a ministry called Healing Faith, Healing Faith is a ministry founded by Kari and Jason Segner and their four kids well, now 5 because they just adopted a little African boy now isn’t that sweet. Healing Faith works in the villages outside of Uganda. They set up clinics and teach about malaria a disease caused by mosquitoes. We are going to go and hang malaria nets in the huts and teach them how to prevent from getting malaria. I’ll have a chance to play with the kids and get a glimpse of what it’s like to live in Uganda. I would love for you to support me financially and most importantly in prayer I love you all bye! C:

Update on the Driskell home!!

I am so excited to update you on what’s been going on in my life.  These last 3 years the Lord has been preparing me for something big, something I could never have guessed!
As of January of 2014 I will officially come on as a staff member of Healing Faith ministries!!  I will be the US Director.  It is bittersweet, as I have been so blessed to be on staff at Brazos Fellowship Church for 3 years now, but the Lord was very clear in His leading and timing.  The staff at Brazos Fellowship has been so supportive, and encouraging, I could not be more thankful and blessed by them!
With this new development, I will mostly be working in the US, but now have the opportunity to be the missionary I feel like the Lord called me to at an early age, and I did not listen.  God is so good to give us second, third, fourth etc. chances!!  His grace amazes me dailyJ

This year there is a unique opportunity with Healing Faith (www.healingfaithuganda.org).  We are taking a Spring Break team, which is a much shorter trip than our normal summer teams.  At first glace we were thinking college students would jump on this opportunity.  But it became more and more evident that the Lord was changing the direction of our course!
It started with an 8 year old girl, whose heart was burdened for Healing Faith and their fight against Malaria.  She started a campaign that she calls “Nickels for Nets” (www.facebook.com/nickelsfornets) and asked her friends, and all the children she knew, to pledge at least $5 (which pays for 1 net) to donate to Healing Faith for Christmas.  The events that have followed this sweet girl’s actions will amaze you!
With this happening, we thought, how cool would it be to have the children who have worked so hard to raise funds for nets, to come and actually experience the nets being put to use!!

That is where the biggest news of all comes in!
This Spring Break, Reagan will be joining me on a journey to Jinja, Uganda!!
I will let her tell you about her heart and calling:

Hi I’m Reagan, the first time my mom went to Africa I was scared but then some of my family members told me why she was there and that’s when I wanted her and me to go together and finally my mom and dad decided that it was time to let me go. I think that this will give me more wisdom to use later on. Oh and yes I know that it incudes shots but its all worth it in the end and plus you get to help people! I hope that you will donate and most importantly keep us in your prayers love you. JJJ

This will be my 4th trip to Uganda. While there in July, we were able to see the Malaria program come to fruition!!  We were able to hang nearly 300 nets, educate the Kagoma Gate Village on Malaria prevention and detection, de worm the children, play with them, sing with them, and most importantly we were able to pray with each family we came into contact with in the village!
One of the reasons this trip was so memorable was because my dad and sister, Jessica were able to join me!  It was an incredible time. You can read more about it on this blog in earlier updates!

Our trip will begin March 7th, and will end March 16th.
Through this trip we will be able to bring with us 2 fifty pound bags per person, and we plan on using 1 of those each for much needed medical supplies, and anything else they may need.

Reagan and I are so excited to be taking this trip together!  I cannot wait to show her everything I have seen.  I am so excited to be able to show her what it means to “Go to the Nations”!
My prayer is as always, that my children see and feel a call to serve!

We would love your support, and would like to ask that you prayerfully consider supporting us financially, but most importantly thru prayer!  Thank you!!

If you feel led to donate tax-deductible donations by check can be made out to: Brazos Fellowship with our names in the memo line.
